UL, LLC Environmental and Permitting Lead, Renewables Due Diligence Services in Albany, New York

As a member of the Renewables Advisory Team, the Environmental and Permitting Lead is responsible for supporting the environmental and permitting evaluation of wind, solar, and storage projects in support of the financing, sale, or acquisition of projects. The position is high profile and requires a mature and experienced candidate with effective communication, project management, and technical skills. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, with a can-do spirit and willingness to work hard in a team environment to achieve shared success.

  • Manage high profile Independent Engineering and Technical Advisory projects for project financing, tax equity, sales and acquisitions of wind, solar, and storage projects and portfolios, with respect to environmental and permitting review.

  • Review permitting and environmental documents for a variety of different Projects within the US, Canada, and internationally.

  • Draft report sections relating to the environmental and permitting review of projects or portfolios of projects, including summary of key results and conclusions. Ensure a quality of work that meets and exceeds client expectations.

  • Manage, Train, and Mentor team members

  • Identify new opportunities for the team to support clients.

  • Work with internal resources, associate project managers, and project managers.

  • Stay current on regulations and trends in environmental and permitting with respect to wind, solar, and storage projects.

  • Ensure project deliverables stay on time, on target, and on budget.

  • Work effectively with colleagues to ensure timely delivery of high-quality products while working collaboratively with other teams and business units as needed.

  • Research publicly available data regarding permitting and environmental issues related to wind and solar projects.

  • Conduct site visits as needed to verify and review on-site Project conditions.

  • Attend industry conferences and participate in industry events as needed.

  • Review industry and related resources including conference proceedings and other printed/online publications to keep current on industry trends and products.

  • Attend regular departmental and team meetings; participate as appropriate in Project Management meetings.

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in environmental and permitting review. At least 1-3 years of experience in renewable energy.

  • At least bachelors-level education and core competence in a relevant field.

  • Strong written and communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a team environmental and successfully manage multiple complicated projects.

Additional information:

Location: This position will be located in the United States, with a preference for Chicago, IL, or Albany, NY. Remote work opportunities will be considered as well.

Travel: Travel will be required, around 10-20%. Current driver's license required and capability to complete necessary travel.
