UL, LLC Country Manager, Retail & Consumer Products in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

The Vietnam Country Manager of the Retail and Consumer Products (RCP) Customer Operating Unit (COU) of UL Solutions is the senior leader with responsibility for P&L including all Lab operations and sales management in the Vietnam Region. We are seeking a proven leader with a track record of operational excellence, commercial excellence, people leadership, change management in a dynamic global business. The Country Manager collaborates closely with global functional leaders to effectively plan and implement key expansion projects and global initiatives within the region.

The position will report directly to the Senior director & General Manager of the RCP Division. The position will be located in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

JOB FUNCTION:

Works closely with business stakeholders to provide planning, leadership and guidance in accordance with the goals and objectives established for that region / country. Seeks out new business opportunities and develop the core programs and services for the region / country, as well as develop and expand the company’s influence and business presence in the region / country in accordance with the global strategic goals. Work on expansion plans /business case developing capabilities in line with customer and market needs.

  • Establishes and maintains a regional management infrastructure that can effectively direct UL Solutions’ activities, to include appropriate proactive interaction and cooperation with the other operations of the UL global structure.

  • Ensuring UL Solutions wins in their market place. Driving organic top line growth and growth in new businesses that are aligned with UL Solutions’ overall global strategies.

  • Develop business in Vietnam and other ASEAN countries positioning UL Solutions as the leading service provider in RCP business.

  • Direct P&L responsibility for Retail and Consumer products business.

  • Develop new, particularly local customer relationships as well as strengthen and grow existing relationships with customers and agents. Increase UL Solutions’ share of existing customer spending on their certification, performance testing and related needs.

  • Cultivates a UL Solutions/regional “culture” following the UL Solutions/Global culture.

  • Strengthen and grow relationships with the Government, key regulators, industry associations, standards/certification organizations and other stakeholders, ensuring UL is well represented in all external stakeholder forums.

  • Manages the performance of direct reports by defining accountabilities, establishing performance objectives, providing feedback and guidance, and ensuring that all policies are understood and adhered to.

  • Performs other duties as directed.

  • Successful, well-rounded P&L leader with a University degree and typically 15 plus years of business management.

  • Experience in an international environment required, with an MBA / Advanced degree highly preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to apply leadership skills in areas such as supervision, strategic planning, human resources management, budgeting and communication.

  • A proven track record of operations management and commercial experience in large organizations, including driving sustainable and profitable growth.

  • Motivational and coaching abilities; a team builder and leader; one who can inspire an organization to reach superior levels of performance.

  • An innovative and resourceful problem solver with a strong entrepreneurial bent; an individual who is firm and decisive in addressing difficult issues, and can operate effectively in fast-paced and demanding environments.

  • A knowledge of global consumer product supply chains, including manufacturing, engineering, sourcing, and logistics, as well as the consumer product testing is highly preferred.

  • Strong business (particularly commercial acumen/skills) and strong ability to think strategically.
